  Disappointing stay. From the website, my wife and I were really looking forward to our stay at this luxury boutique hotel for my birthday. The reality, however, was very different. Our 'superior deluxe' room was anything but superior or deluxe. Cracked mirror, wonky lampshades, ill fitting furniture, damp marks on the ceiling, tiny bathroom with grubby shower curtain and noise of wedding party below. Upon expressing our disappointment at reception, we were offered no apology but the keys to an alternative 'superior deluxe' room. Although an improvement on the first it still fell short of its superior deluxe name. Service in the bar and at breakfast was incredibly slow and inattentive. The bar was strewn with uncollected empties and the bar staff were unable to find me a suitable glass for my g&t (it was presented in a champagne flute). At breakfast we waited 10 minutes to be brought menus and offered hot drinks. We weren't the only ones in the room waiting on staff. Whilst the bar and restaurant downstairs have recently been modernised and look the part of a boutique hotel, the service and rooms fall far short of that.

  After a disappointing visit we were invited back , and on this visit we were very impressed with the service, room and food. The restaurant served us delicious food by a very professional team. congratulations to all the management and staff.
